Tender Care Program at Clove Hill is a fulltime rolling enrollment, childcare program for children ages 6 weeks up to 3 years of age and offers children a warm, tender transition from home life to school life in a peaceful, unrushed, playbased setting. Surrounded by nature and wooded play spaces children will be free to explore the natural setting around them and learn how to care for the earth and nurture our furry and feathered friends.
Exploration & Movement
Infants and toddlers are respected, loved and cared for. Free movement for infants and toddlers is critical to a healthy development. Clove Hill strongly supports the physical development of infants and toddlers by providing lots of opportunity to move freely while encouraging exploration of their environment. Helping them to gain self-confidence in their abilities while strengthening their fine and large motor skills.
The Tender Care program for children is very nurturing and rhythmical in nature. Providing an unrushed environment is important for children to have the time needed to learn and accomplish tasks with the ability to focus without being rushed away to another activity.
The playroom is structured to offer a variety of play activities, both individual and group. Outdoor playtime is part of the curriculum, even in rainy weather. We are mindful of the weather conditions and adjust our outdoor time accordingly.
Meal times at Clove Hill are family style. Outdoor dining is common during the warmer weather seasons. We sit together for all meals and encourage conversation. Self feeding is encouraged as well as helping to cleanup after meals.
For infants who are just beginning solids I follow a baby led weaning approach. You can learn more about baby led weaning http://www.babyledweaning.com
The meals I provide are based on seasonal items from our garden, whether it is curry carrot soup or blueberry snacks from the berry patch. Clove Hill strives to be organic and as self reliant for produce as possible.
If your child requires a special diet, you are required to provide the meals.
Clove Hill is an advocate for rest time for children. Our day is full of outdoor play and movement and requires a time to rest and rejuvenate. All children attending our fullday program are required to rest during our rest time. Young Infants typically begin their sleep cycle sporadically and will begin to move into a more rhythmic rest cycle as they grow older. I follow the baby sleep site methods to help infants gently create a consistant sleep rhythm. You can learn more about it at http://www.babysleepsite.com
Clove Hill is cloth diaper friendly and supports parents who have chosen to cloth diaper. I do accept non cloth diapers as well. When your child is ready to begin the potty training process I will partner with you to help your child be successful with the transition. Consistancy at home and school is important to the process!
